Project specifications

A final project for this class should be either

• a research paper into some question raised in class, in proper academic style.
• a technical project including code and evaluation, (e.g., involving text normalization, decipherment, etc.)
• an "art project" (e.g., a demonstration of a new idea, such as an adaption of a writing system to a new language, or a proposal for a script reform).

The latter two should be accompanied by a "write-up" describing the motivation, problems encountered, etc.; while these should cite prior work appropriately, they can be in a slightly-less formal style than the research paper.
